A two-hour workshop on using humor and the principles of stand-up for business communications Stand-up comedy is more than just laughs, it’s a powerful tool for connection, confidence, and communication. That’s why we’re offering this two-hour workshop for professionals who want to bring a little comedy into the conference room. Whether you lead meetings, give presentations, manage a team, or just want to feel more at ease speaking in front of people, this class is for you. Have you ever bombed an interview? Had a difficult time talking to your boss or someone you managed? Felt like you lost the room during a presentation? Stand-up comedians deal with that every time they hit the mic; and they’ve learned tools to keep the audience with them. Now you can learn those same skills. This class will show you how to use humor to connect, how to read the room, and how to bounce back from feedback like a pro. You’ll build confidence, boost your communication skills, and have fun while doing it. You don’t need to be funny, just open to trying something new. By the end, you’ll walk away with tools you can use at work (and maybe even at an open mic). Plus, you'll get to network with like-minded professionals.

About the Instructor: A former teacher and one of the original writers of the popular You Don't Know Jack trivia game, Marta Segal Block is a marketing and communications strategist with over a decade of experience helping people connect through words. She has crafted high-impact messaging for audiences ranging from front-line workers to the C-suite. Marta's writing and communication strategies have supported nonprofits, startups, and major corporations, all with a mix of empathy, clarity, and humor. She is a trained facilitator, certified in using play-based methods to foster communication, collaboration, and learning in both professional and educational settings. After taking classes at Comedy Plex, Marta took to the stage. She has performed all over the area, including at Laugh Factory, Lincoln Lodge, and of course, Comedy Plex. She believes that the skills of great comedy, confidence, listening, connection, and feedback, translate directly to better meetings, presentations, and team dynamics.
